The fair’s 28th edition was held in a new venue configuration due to large-scale renovation works at Tokyo Big Sight. Even so, visitor numbers showed steady growth. The show attracted a broad range of industry professionals and salon owners from the aesthetics, hair, nail, eyelash and aesthetic medicine sectors, as well as representatives from trading companies, manufacturers, hotels, and spas.
Strong international participation and business results
International exhibitors hailed from countries and regions including Germany, Hong Kong, India, Senegal, Taiwan, Thailand and the US, with pavilions from China and Korea. These exhibitors enthusiastically engaged with visitors through business discussions and live demonstrations showcasing products aimed at expanding their presence in the Japanese market. The newly launched KAORI et Parfum zone also attracted strong interest from buyers seeking differentiated retail concepts and niche fragrance offerings.
A first-time exhibitor from the US, Mr Ivy Li, International Marketing Manager of AMERICAN JEREH INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION, successfully presented their technology for hair drying and styling: “On the first day, we had more than eight potential clients visit our booth, enquiring about our products. Those visitors came not only from Japan, but also from Europe and the US. We definitely plan to participate again next time.”
Many exhibitors reported strong business outcomes throughout the fair. According to Mr Toshiaki Kawai, Director and General Manager of Dr.Select Co., Ltd., a long-standing exhibitor in the Cosmetics zone: “Continued participation in Beautyworld Japan Tokyo has helped strengthen relationships with business partners while also providing opportunities to reconnect with existing customers. We also generated approximately 600 leads over the three days, leading to promising new business opportunities.”
Exhibiting for the first time in the Creative Hair zone, Little Scientist Co., LTD. highlighted the fair as an effective platform for increasing awareness of its upcoming new products among industry professionals. Mr Ryuichi Seki, General Manager of the Media Department, stated: “We welcomed many visitors not only from the hair sector, but also from the aesthetic and nail industries, contributing to broader brand recognition across the beauty market.”
Strong visitor engagement was also reported by first-time exhibitor Sun-O International Inc. in the Tasty zone. Mr Kenji Maeda, the company’s President, commented: “Visitors demonstrated a high level of interest, and we secured more than 10 new contracts during the fair. Next year, we plan to expand our exhibition scale and further strengthen our recognition within the beauty industry.”
Knowledge exchange and professional development
The industry exchange went beyond the productive discussions at exhibitors’ booths. Over the three-day fair, 31 fringe events for beauty professionals and business owners were held at the Esthetics Stage and Hair & Nail Stage, while sessions targeting the fitness and Pilates sectors were organised in the Workshop. Exclusive events for medical professionals were presented at the Clinic Care Seminar space.
Prominent industry figures introduced practical techniques that could be immediately incorporated into salon menus, attracting large audiences of aestheticians, nail artists and hairstylists seeking to enhance their technical skills. In addition, seminars on branding, management and international trends drew strong participation from salon owners and beauty industry professionals. The fee-based Premium Seminars, offering close-up technical instruction in a small-group setting, also generated significant interest, with all sessions fully booked.
Looking ahead
Under the Beautyworld brand, Messe Frankfurt organises trade fairs in eight cities worldwide, including four editions in Japan – Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka and Tokyo – as well as Dubai, Riyadh, Taipei and Tashkent. To further strengthen global brand consistency and market recognition, the fair name in Japan will be gradually unified from “Beautyworld Japan” to “Beautyworld,” starting with the Osaka edition in 2026.
The next edition of Beautyworld Tokyo will be held from 17 – 19 May 2027 across the entire East Halls of Tokyo Big Sight. The Creative Hair zone, which has focused on hair-related products and services, will expand to cover an entire hall, set to be renewed as a dedicated business platform for hair salon and barbershop owners, offering solutions for salon management.
